During my son’s first three years of his education, Langley was under the leadership of an amazing principal, Ms. Spann. Principal Drumm then took leadership during my son’s first grade year at Langley. There were some challenges that year, which were understandable being that it was Principal Drumm’s first year at this school. However, I must say, every challenge that was brought to Ms. Drumm’s attention was handled in a very professional and ethical fashion. The staff is very transparent and delivers great "customer" service to all parents, other staff members and the students.
Langley has always been a home away from home for Antonio; he simply loves the staff and I am always complimented in the hallway on Antonio’s progress and how he has grown over the years. Langley is definitely the place to be if you want your child to grow up to be an exceptional, intelligent citizen. Antonio wears his Tiger Pride well.
The teachers I have encountered here at Langley always exercise an open door policy during class, before or after school, or even in the evening to provide me support in assisting Antonio with his homework. They are always available. The teachers adapt to the different learning levels of each student in their class. They often break the class down into smaller groups depending on their learning level and provide them challenging work based on their level to enhance their intellectual ability. I am very impressed with the strategies and skills my son has developed over the years.
Langley’s extended staff, including the recess coach, the security guard, the office personnel and the support staff - everyone is always so friendly and courteous! They are always willing to help or guide you into the right direction to get the assistance you may need. Each staff member is always very excited to see the children and willing to step in to provide Conscious Discipline methods, for those moments when the children are not at their best.
Langley also provides extra circular activities for the children to participate in, including gymnastics, Flex Academies and other tutoring opportunities provided by individual teachers. Langley offers both before and aftercare and even childcare during the PTA meetings. It’s very refreshing to have such a wonderful committed staff, willing to be there for the parents and the child.
I would be amiss if I didn’t speak on the beautiful facelifts Langley has recently undergone. Upon entering the campus there is a beautiful STEM garden, where kids work with the local farmer to grow fresh fruits and vegetables and create recipes in FoodPrints Lab. When you enter the building there are constant reminders of the family oriented environment here at Langley and the new Conscious Discipline techniques to help us through those tougher moments. All through the halls and entrances you notice posters asking the children how they preferred to be greeted: whether by fist-bump, high-five, or hug to provide them the encouragement they need. They have positive messages and news of the school, posted on the bulletin boards to remind you of its great progress. Please come check out Langley Elementary at the next Open House on March 13th and see all the wonderful opportunities it has to offer!
