Special Education
Langley Elementary offers multiple special education programs to best serve its students with unique challenges. Supports for students range from Special Education Teachers following an inclusion model within general education classrooms, to self-contained classrooms for students.
The self-contained programs offered at Langley Elementary are Behavior & Education Support (BES) and Communication & Education Support (CES).
BES program classrooms are full-time classrooms for students who have an emotional disability or who have behaviors that interfere with learning. Each classroom provides a safe and structured learning environment supported by trained staff who focus on individual student goals.
CES program classrooms are full-time classrooms for students who have been identified with autism spectrum disorder or other learning needs. The CES program is based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and uses research-based practices to provide students with highly structured classrooms.
Teachers and staff in these full-time classrooms support the academic, behavioral and social-emotional needs of students to help them develop independent life skills.
