We make sure to reach out to our community. Our student-grown vegetables and the honey from our beehive are featured at our neighborhood farmers market and in our local businesses' recipes. Local business partners like Big Bear Cafe, The Pub and the People, and Boundary Stone support us by having their staff visit the school to speak to the kids, providing stops on our neighborhood field trips, sponsoring projects and events, or buying our vegetables and honey. We are so grateful for our community’s support!
Langley has partnered with the Flamboyan Foundation to make sure we are engaging all of our families. We work hard to build trusting relationships between schools and families and including families in academic partnerships with constant proactive communication. Through this partnership, Langley staff conduct home-visits with our families to learn about students’ hopes and dreams. We also facilitate Academic Parent-Teacher Team (APTT) meetings that provide specific data to parents regarding students progress and works with parents on instructional strategies and activities that can be easily done at home to further support our students’ academic development. Principal-Parent Breakfast, Family Fun Night, other school events, and parent volunteering help to build relationships with families.
Parent Teacher Association
Langley has an active PTSA which supports parent-teacher collaboration and community-building activities such as Family Fun Night. With their help, we have been able to raise funds necessary to support our many field trips! To contact the PTSA, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call the main office at (202) 724-4223.
